You will hear lots of jargon in the proposals for your homes. Here is
a guide that should help you through the maze.
ADP
Approved Development Programme This is money the Housing Corporation dives
to Registered Social Landlords each year to build.
DETR
Department of the Environment, Transport and the Regions. DETR set the
rules, guidance and control the amount of money a Council can spend on
Housing each year.
EDMC
Estate Development Management Committee elected by residents across the
Estates.
ERCF
Estate Renewal Challenge Fund. This is money the government gave Hackney
to transfer Haggerston Estate and Whitmore. It is no longer available.
GOL
Government Office for London
LPAC
London Planning Advisory Committee, made up of representatives of the
32 London Boroughs.
LPAG
London Planning Authority Guidance. This is guidance that all planning
applications must follow. .
OJEC
Official Journal for European Community. Where all large council contracts
must be advertised. The redevelopment of Haggerston West and Kingsland
was advertised in 1999.
PPGl
Planning Policy Guidance Note 1 Deals with Urban Design specifically.
It is guidance set down by the government that all councils must follow
before considering Planning Application.
RSL
Registered Social Landlord. Registered with the Housing Corporation and
must be non profit making.
UDP
Unitary Development Plan. The Boroughwide plan which sets out what development
should happen where in the Borough. All Planning Applications must be
judged against this.
