Information Technology at your Doorstep !

Q. Where would you find a modern Computer Suite, equipped with the latest state-of-the-art computer Hardware and Software ?

A. At Haggerston Community Centre of course!

Yes, the Tenants Association at the Community Centre has recently being catering for the I.T. requirements of the local community, by providing short computer courses including a drop-in/open access facility, where users of all ages may use I.T. equipment such as Scanners, printers, word processors and Desk-top publishing packages e.t.c., for preparing c.vs, reports, leaflets and a host of different applications. Assistance is provided by a qualified trainer. Access to the Internet and associated services are also planned for the very near future.

Funding for this project has been acquired from the National Lottery Charities Board, providing additional equipment and training. Courses running at the Centre during the summer period include an Introduction to Computers for Women course (Child-care support available). In addition, there are 3 one-week computer courses targeting local Youth aged between 8 - 21 yrs. From September onwards, the Centre will be running 16-week NVQ level 1-2 courses in Information Technology, with child-care support available.
