Haggerston Community Centre Home

Much of the work undertaken to date has centred on preparation of an advertisement for a new Landlord or Partner. In September this advertisement was placed in a European Journal. There were 6 expressions of interest. The EDMC along with the Council have assessed these responses and 4 Housing Associations will be invited to put forward detailed proposals on how they will fulfil the regeneration scheme. In the New Year these proposals will be scrutinised and one Housing Association will be selected.

In February a Joint Estate Development Committee or EDMC was established between Kingsland and Haggerston West estates. A constitution was provisionally agreed and a Chair and Vice chair have been elected. The Council, EDMC and the tenant's advisors First Call are working together towards a scheme, which will involve demolition and rebuild of the estates.

Lorna Meade Chair of the EDMC said "It is an important and challenging time for tenants. The Councils 10 Point Plan has laid the framework of what tenants can expect but much clarification and negotiation is required to ensure that the needs and aspirations of all tenants and Lease holders are achieved.

The EDMC still welcomes tenants and Lease holders on the affected estates who want to get involved."

Meetings are held monthly in the evenings at a local venue. Help with child care is available
